{"id":16319,"date":"2024-04-11T12:53:24","date_gmt":"2024-04-11T10:53:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sano.science\/?p=16319"},"modified":"2024-04-16T10:37:43","modified_gmt":"2024-04-16T08:37:43","slug":"sano-at-the-polish-open-science-conference","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sano.science\/sano-at-the-polish-open-science-conference\/","title":{"rendered":"Sano at the Polish Open Science Conference"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\" eplus-wrapper\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\" eplus-wrapper\">On Thursday, 11 April, don\u2019t miss the chance to join Sano scientists <strong>in person<\/strong> at The Polish Open Science Conference in Krak\u00f3w. <strong>Dr<\/strong>.<strong> Maciej Malawski<\/strong> and <strong>Piotr Nowakowski<\/strong> will share their insights on <strong>processing distributed medical data<\/strong>.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer eplus-wrapper\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\" eplus-wrapper\"><em>The abstract of the talk: &nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer eplus-wrapper\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\" eplus-wrapper\">\u201cModern software solutions in computational medicine, including decision support systems, are critically dependent on the availability of data which is required to fine-tune DSS algorithms, train AI models, perform verification and validation of resulting software, and assist in the certification process. However, obtaining such data is often cumbersome and involves legal obstacles. In many cases medical records cannot be exported outside of their originating institutions, or require verifiable anonymization and protection at processing sites. In this presentation we report on our work on solutions which aim to alleviate these issues, among others by implementing federated learning algorithms at multiple sites where models can be trained without physically transferring data, as well as aggregating and securely managing medical data at HPC infrastructures, where large-scale computational models can be safely executed &#8211; which includes the ability to publish results of computations in accordance with Open Data principles. We provide examples of successful projects currently underway at Sano, and also highlight our plans for further work on overcoming these issues. algorithms, train AI models, perform verification and validation of resulting software, and assist in the certification process. However, obtaining such data is often cumbersome and involves legal obstacles. In many cases medical records cannot be exported outside of their originating institutions, or require verifiable anonymization and protection at processing sites. In this presentation we report on our work on solutions which aim to alleviate these issues, among others by implementing federated learning algorithms at multiple sites where models can be trained without physically transferring data, as well as aggregating and securely managing medical data at HPC infrastructures, where large-scale computational models can be safely executed - which includes the ability to publish results of computations in accordance with Open Data principles. We provide examples of successful projects currently underway at Sano, and also highlight our plans for further work on overcoming these issues.
