This leadership transition, which will take effect on September 1, 2025, comes following the retirement of\u00a0<strong>Prof. Maciej \u017bylicz<\/strong>, who has served as FNP\u2019s president since 2005.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer eplus-wrapper\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\" eplus-wrapper\">Prof. Pyr\u0107\u2019s career includes founding the Virology Research Group at the\u00a0<strong>Ma\u0142opolska Centre of Biotechnology<\/strong>, where his team has made significant contributions to the understanding of coronaviruses, flaviviruses, alphaviruses, and influenza viruses. His research has led to the development of new therapeutic substances, with results published in high-impact journals such as\u00a0<em>Nature Medicine<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>Science Translational Medicine<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer eplus-wrapper\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\" eplus-wrapper\">Reflecting on his appointment, Prof. Pyr\u0107 expressed both joy and humility, calling it \u201can incredible distinction, but also a great challenge and commitment.\u201d He emphasized the Foundation\u2019s role in building bridges between science, society, and business, a mission that mirrors Sano\u2019s goal of connecting computational medicine with real-world healthcare solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer eplus-wrapper\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\" eplus-wrapper\">Prof. Pyr\u0107\u2019s connection to FNP is deeply personal\u2014more than 15 years ago, FNP\u2019s support enabled him to return to Poland and start his groundbreaking work on coronaviruses.
