The two-day visit provided a comprehensive overview of Sano\u2019s ongoing research, its strategic direction, and the role the ISC will play in shaping its future.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer eplus-wrapper\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading eplus-wrapper\" id=\"h-a-comprehensive-introduction-and-strategic-discussions\">A Comprehensive Introduction and Strategic Discussions\u00a0<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\" eplus-wrapper\">The visit began with an introductory session led by <a href=\"https:\/\/sano.science\/people\/maciej-malawski\/\">Maciej Malawski <\/a>(Head of Sano), <a href=\"https:\/\/sano.science\/people\/magdalena-chrzanowska\/\">Magdalena Chrzanowska<\/a> (General Manager), <a href=\"https:\/\/sano.science\/people\/tomasz-gubala\/\">Tomasz Guba\u0142a<\/a> (Chief Strategy Officer), and <a href=\"https:\/\/sano.science\/people\/marian-bubak\/\">Marian Bubak<\/a> (Scientific Affairs Director). This session outlined the current and planned activities of Sano\u2019s research teams and provided updates on the Research Agenda following recent ISC meetings.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\" eplus-wrapper\">A key highlight of the visit was a brainstorming session focused on the concept of holistic over- and under-the-skin computational medicine. Engaging discussions between the ISC members and Sano\u2019s researchers, postdoctoral fellows, and operations teams explored the centre\u2019s evolving needs and the potential role of interdisciplinary computational approaches in healthcare.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer eplus-wrapper\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading eplus-wrapper\" id=\"h-in-depth-engagement-with-research-teams\">In-Depth Engagement with Research Teams\u00a0<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\" eplus-wrapper\">Professors Hoekstra and Sloot participated in a series of meetings with Sano\u2019s research groups, offering valuable insights and guidance. They met with:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\" eplus-wrapper\">\u2022 <strong>The Extreme-Scale Data and Computing Team<\/strong> (led by Maciej Malawski)\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\" eplus-wrapper\">\u2022 <strong>The Scientific Programming Team<\/strong> (led by Piotr Nowakowski)\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\" eplus-wrapper\">\u2022 <strong>The Computational Neuroscience Team<\/strong> (led by Jan K. Argasi\u0144ski)\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\" eplus-wrapper\">\u2022 <strong>The Personal Health Data Science Team<\/strong> (led by Jos\u00e9 Sousa)\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\" eplus-wrapper\">\u2022 <strong>The Structural and Functional Genomics Team<\/strong> (led by Tomasz Ko\u015bci\u00f3\u0142ek)\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\" eplus-wrapper\">\u2022<strong> The Health Informatics Team<\/strong> (led by Przemys\u0142aw Korzeniowski)\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\" eplus-wrapper\">Additionally, the ISC members had a dedicated discussion with doctoral student Joan Falco-Roget, providing advice on PhD research and academic development.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer eplus-wrapper\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading eplus-wrapper\" id=\"h-strengthening-the-role-of-the-isc\">Strengthening the Role of the ISC\u00a0<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\" eplus-wrapper\">The meetings were rich in discussions, enabling the research teams to receive expert support while allowing Professors Hoekstra and Sloot to gain a deeper understanding of Sano\u2019s structure, research priorities, and strategic objectives. As new leaders of the International Scientific Committee, their insights will help guide Sano\u2019s scientific direction, ensuring continued excellence in computational medicine.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\" eplus-wrapper\">The visit concluded with a wrap-up session, where key takeaways were discussed with Marian Bubak and Magdalena Chrzanowska.
