Professor Cacciola, a human anatomy expert and collaborator with our Computational Neuroscience Group, visited Sano &#8211; Centre for Computational Medicine for a productive week of scientific exchange. He also mentors Joan Falco-Roget on his NCN grant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer eplus-wrapper\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading eplus-wrapper\" id=\"h-a-week-of-engagement\">A Week of Engagement<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\" eplus-wrapper\">Professor Cacciola&#8217;s visit began on a Monday evening with an informal greeting. Tuesday morning included a tour of all Sano labs. In the afternoon, we held a brainstorming session to explore future collaborations. Wednesday was a significant day as Professor Cacciola delivered a talk, &#8220;<strong>From Brain Connectomes to Bedside: Leveraging Brain Connectivity for Precision Medicine<\/strong>.&#8221; This presentation covered how connectomics is being used in clinical practice, particularly for neurodegenerative diseases and neuro-oncology. The talk was followed by an extended Q&amp;A and discussion.<br>On Thursday, Professor Cacciola provided comments on presentations from Sano&#8217;s Computational Neuroscience research team, which proved beneficial. His visit concluded on Friday with a trip to the <strong>Cyfronet supercomputing center<\/strong>, facilitated by <a href=\"https:\/\/sano.science\/people\/szymon-mazurek\/\">Szymon Mazurek<\/a>, where he saw the powerful infrastructure we use daily. This was followed by a demonstration of Sano&#8217;s VR technology and a discussion about its application in research and teaching anatomy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer eplus-wrapper\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading eplus-wrapper\" id=\"h-looking-ahead\">Looking Ahead<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\" eplus-wrapper\">Professor Cacciola&#8217;s visit was successful, and we appreciate his time and insights.
