At Sano \u2013 Centre for Computational Personalised Medicine<\/strong>, researchers from across the institute have come together to launch a new initiative exploring the link between the brain and the gut microbiome: the Gut\u2013Brain Axis Journal Club<\/em>. This internal journal club, co-organized by the Computational Neuroscience<\/strong> and Structural and Functional Genomics<\/strong> groups, is already sparking lively discussions on one of today\u2019s most fascinating and fast-growing areas of research. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The first meeting took place on June 4th<\/strong>, led by the Computational Neuroscience group, and featured a discussion of \u201cThe Gut\u2013Brain Axis\u201d<\/em> by Mayer, Nance, and Chen (Annual Review of Medicine<\/em>, 2022). The second session followed on June 18th<\/strong>, hosted by the Structural and Functional Genomics group, focusing on the classic paper \u201cNeuroimaging of the Brain\u2013Gut Axis\u201d<\/em> by Mayer, Naliboff, and Craig (Gastroenterology<\/em>, 2006). <\/p>\n\n\n\n The journal club was initiated by PhD candidate Joan Falc\u00f3-Roget<\/strong>, and is designed as a cross-team forum where researchers can share insights, review seminal papers, and identify opportunities for future collaboration at the interface of neuroscience, genomics, and microbiology. <\/p>\n\n\n\n By connecting expertise across disciplines, the Gut\u2013Brain Axis Journal Club is helping to lay the groundwork for new research directions and integrative approaches to understanding how gut health and brain function are intertwined. <\/p>\n\n\n\n We\u2019re excited to see how this initiative evolves \u2014 and how it contributes to shaping Sano\u2019s research in this emerging field. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":"A new interdisciplinary journal club bridges neuroscience and gut microbiome research ","author":8,"featured_media":25433,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"inline_featured_image":false,"editor_plus_post_options":"{}","editor_plus_copied_stylings":"{}","footnotes":""},"categories":[1],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-25432","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-uncategorized"],"yoast_head":"\n
