The occasion was the 6th edition of <strong>UNCECOMP \u2013 International Conference on Uncertainty Quantification in Computational Science and Engineering<\/strong>, which brought together researchers from around the world to share insights, results, and methods. Among the speakers was <a href=\"https:\/\/sano.science\/people\/karolina-tlalka\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Karolina Tla\u0142ka<\/a>, a PhD student in the <strong>Extreme-scale Data Computing<\/strong> team at <strong>Sano \u2013 Centre for Computational Personalised Medicine<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer eplus-wrapper\"><\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns eplus-wrapper is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex eplus-styles-uid-d4a04d\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-center eplus-wrapper is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\" eplus-wrapper\">Karolina presented a talk titled <strong>\u201cSome challenges associated with the personalisation and reduction of uncertainty in human cardiovascular models,\u201d<\/strong> co-authored with <strong>Harry Saxton, Ian Halliday, Andrew Narracott<\/strong>, and <strong>Maciej Malawski<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-center eplus-wrapper is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large eplus-wrapper\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"551\" src=\"https:\/\/sano.science\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Karolina-Tlalka-UNCECOMP-1024x551.jpg\" alt=\"Karolina Tla\u0142ka at UNCECOMP\" class=\"wp-image-25666\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sano.science\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Karolina-Tlalka-UNCECOMP-1024x551.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/sano.science\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Karolina-Tlalka-UNCECOMP-300x161.jpg 300w, https:\/\/sano.science\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Karolina-Tlalka-UNCECOMP-768x413.jpg 768w, https:\/\/sano.science\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Karolina-Tlalka-UNCECOMP-1536x826.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/sano.science\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Karolina-Tlalka-UNCECOMP-2048x1102.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\" eplus-wrapper\">Her presentation addressed key challenges in the development of <strong>personalised cardiovascular models<\/strong>, with a particular focus on managing uncertainties in data and simulation methods. Such models are central to the advancement of personalised medicine, but their effectiveness relies on accurately representing patient-specific characteristics and understanding how uncertainty propagates through different stages of analysis. The authors show how to apply various types of boundaries on optimization process, to preserve physiological relevance of dynamic cardiovascular models.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\" eplus-wrapper\">Attending UNCECOMP offered an excellent opportunity to exchange ideas with the international community of experts in <strong>computational mechanics, stochastic modelling<\/strong>, and <strong>multiscale analysis<\/strong>.
