A New Hub for Trusted Artificial Intelligence in Europe<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Krakow is set to host Poland\u2019s second AI Factory \u2013 the Gaia AI Factory, a new European centre dedicated to developing trusted and human-centred artificial intelligence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Led by the Academic Computer Centre CYFRONET AGH, the initiative unites a national consortium of research institutions, technology partners, and innovation hubs \u2014 including Sano Centre for Computational Medicine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Together, we aim to create an open ecosystem that accelerates AI innovation in healthcare, space technologies, and large language models (LLMs).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This \u20ac70 million project is co-funded by Poland and the European Union through the European High-Performance Computing Joint Undertaking (EuroHPC JU), marking a major milestone for Poland\u2019s position on the European AI and supercomputing map.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gaia AI Factory: A New Generation of AI Infrastructure<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

A state-of-the-art supercomputer, optimised for artificial intelligence workloads, will power the Gaia AI Factory.
Located in Krakow and managed by CYFRONET AGH, the system will deliver computing performance several times higher than that of Poland\u2019s current fastest supercomputer, Helios.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The infrastructure will support the full AI development lifecycle \u2014 from data preparation and model training to deployment and evaluation \u2014 enabling researchers, businesses, and public institutions to develop ethical, transparent, and high-performance AI solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through this platform, the consortium will provide AI training programmes, advisory services, and talent development initiatives to strengthen digital skills and ensure that AI innovation remains accessible to all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Sano\u2019s Role: Advancing AI in Healthcare<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    As a member of the Gaia AI Factory consortium, Sano will contribute its expertise in computational medicine, explainable AI, and human-centric design.
    Our mission within the project is to ensure that AI technologies developed within this ecosystem are not only effective and scalable but also trustworthy, transparent, and beneficial to society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    At Sano, we believe that the future of AI in healthcare lies at the intersection of data science, ethics, and patient-centred innovation. Gaia AI Factory provides a unique opportunity to turn this vision into practice on a European scale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Looking Ahead: Krakow as a European AI Capital<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    Gaia AI Factory will closely collaborate with its counterparts \u2014 PIAST AI Factory in Pozna\u0144 and LUMI AI Factory in Finland \u2014 forming part of a distributed European network of AI excellence centres.
    Together, these initiatives will strengthen Europe\u2019s technological sovereignty in artificial intelligence and provide a strong foundation for developing future AI gigafactories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
