One of these workshops was co-organised by the <a href=\"https:\/\/sano.science\/research-teams\/computational-neuroscience\/\" type=\"research_team\" id=\"15\">Computational Neuroscience<\/a> team from Sano together with representatives of EBRAINS, the European research infrastructure supporting brain research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\" eplus-wrapper\">The workshop was led by <a href=\"https:\/\/sano.science\/people\/marissa-diaz-pier\/\" type=\"people\" id=\"18318\">Marissa Diaz Pier<\/a> and <strong>Thorsten Hater<\/strong>, together with experts associated with <strong>Forschungszentrum J\u00fclich<\/strong> and <strong>EBRAINS<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer eplus-wrapper\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading eplus-wrapper\" id=\"h-joint-sano-and-ebrains-workshop\">Joint Sano and EBRAINS workshop<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\" eplus-wrapper\">The workshop entitled \u201cNeuroscience through EBRAINS Research Infrastructure: expand your research through workflows and high-performance computing\u201d focused on the latest computational tools and methods used in neuroscience and biomedicine. Participants had the opportunity to explore the capabilities offered by EBRAINS \u2013 a platform that enables international scientific collaboration and provides access to data, simulation tools, workflows and high-performance computing resources. Attention was paid to how this infrastructure supports open, reproducible and FAIR-compliant science, and how it can be integrated into real research projects \u2013 from data organisation to advanced brain simulations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer eplus-wrapper\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading eplus-wrapper\" id=\"h-from-lab-computer-to-hpc-clusters\">From lab computer to HPC clusters<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\" eplus-wrapper\">The programme also included an overview of different strategies for running computational workflows \u2013 from local processing on a lab computer, through cloud-based solutions, to advanced HPC clusters. This focus is closely aligned with Sano\u2019s profile, as the centre develops methods for computational medicine based on high-performance computing and advanced information technologies. Using examples of simulation engines such as The Virtual Brain (TVB) and NEST, the speakers demonstrated how to design, automate and monitor complex computational processes in a transparent, collaborative way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer eplus-wrapper\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading eplus-wrapper\" id=\"h-sano-s-commitment-to-advancing-modern-neuroscience\">Sano\u2019s commitment to advancing modern neuroscience<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\" eplus-wrapper\">Co-organising this workshop is yet another example of Sano\u2019s commitment to advancing modern research methods and creating spaces for collaboration between science and computational infrastructure. Our foundation, Sano Centre for Computational Medicine, develops advanced computational methods for medicine and conducts research including in the area of computational neuroscience, which gives this initiative a strong scientific grounding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer eplus-wrapper\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading eplus-wrapper\" id=\"h-about-the-neuronus-conference\">About the NEURONUS conference<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\" eplus-wrapper\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.neuronusforum.pl\/\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/www.neuronusforum.pl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">NEURONUS &amp; Young PTBUN Neuroscience Forum<\/a> is the largest international neuroscience conference in Poland, organised regularly by the student community of the Jagiellonian University.
