\u201cMicrobiome Interactions in Health and Disease 2026\u201d is an exciting conference on the recent advances in microbiome research. This year, members of Sano\u2019s Structural and Functional Genomics Group – Alicja Wojciechowska<\/a>, Jakub Wojciechowski<\/a>, and Sylwia\u00a0Bo\u017cek<\/a>\u00a0– attended this event on March 2\u20134 in\u00a0Hinxton, UK. They presented research on sinonasal microbiome in chronic rhinosinusitis, the project conducted with clinicians from Jagiellonian Medical College in Krak\u00f3w. Our Sano members\u00a0also shared their very recent results on the role of gut-brain axis in neurodegenerative diseases, which can be explored with microbial\u00a0proteins.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The conference was an opportunity to meet with the leading experts in the field, share experiences, and talk about potential collaborations, all in a diverse community of experimental and computational scientists. The talks focused on the functional potential of microbiota, role of mobile elements and\u00a0microproteins, and a recent hot-topic \u2013\u00a0virome. The conference also addressed topics\u00a0such\u00a0as the role of the\u00a0microbiome\u00a0in\u00a0women\u2019s\u00a0health, the\u00a0importance\u00a0of the oral microbiome, and the One\u00a0Health\u00a0approach,\u00a0which\u00a0connects\u00a0human,\u00a0animal, and environmental health.
