This year&#8217;s programme, themed &#8220;Computer modelling in Bio and Med worlds. ML, AI, MD, and other approaches&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer eplus-wrapper\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"eplus-wrapper wp-block-paragraph\">Among the presenters was <a href=\"https:\/\/sano.science\/people\/sylwia-bozek\/\" data-type=\"people\" data-id=\"24741\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Sylwia Bo\u017cek<\/a>, Junior Research Specialist in the Structural and Functional Genomics Group at Sano \u2013 Centre for Computational Personalized Medicine. She presented recent findings from the project &#8220;<strong>Longitudinal Analysis of the Sinonasal Microbiome in Chronic Rhinosinusitis<\/strong>&#8220;, led by Dr Joanna Szaleniec from the University Hospital in Krak\u00f3w and Dr Tomasz Ko\u015bci\u00f3\u0142ek from Sano. Dr Aleksandra \u015awiercz (Pozna\u0144\u00a0University of Technology) presented Genomics for Poland\u00a0(G4PL) initiative, discussing its role in advancing genomic research and supporting the development of precision medicine.\u00a0Prof. W\u0142odzis\u0142aw Duch (Nicolaus Copernicus University)\u00a0shared his perspective on current developments and future challenges in artificial intelligence.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"eplus-wrapper wp-block-paragraph\">For Sano, BIT26 was an opportunity to share its interdisciplinary approach, bringing together genomics, data science, and clinical collaboration, and to connect with researchers working in bioinformatics across Poland.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer eplus-wrapper\"><\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns eplus-wrapper is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-8f761849 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex eplus-styles-uid-074221\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column eplus-wrapper is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\"><ul class=\"wp-block-list eplus-wrapper eplus-styles-uid-5875d0\">\n<li class=\" eplus-wrapper\"><strong>Microbiome<\/strong> \u2014 the whole community of microorganisms living in a particular part of the body, here sinonasal cavity.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\" eplus-wrapper\"><strong>Sinonasal<\/strong>\u00a0\u2014\u00a0relating\u00a0to the\u00a0nasal\u00a0cavity\u00a0and the\u00a0paranasal\u00a0sinuses\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\" eplus-wrapper\"><strong>Chronic\u00a0rhinosinusitis<\/strong>\u00a0(<strong>CRS<\/strong>) \u2014\u00a0long-lasting\u00a0inflammation\u00a0of the nose and sinuses (typically 12 weeks or more), with symptoms such as blockage, discharge and reduced sense of smell.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\" eplus-wrapper\"><strong>Longitudinal\u00a0analysis\u00a0<\/strong>\u2014 a\u00a0study\u00a0that\u00a0follows\u00a0the same subjects and takes repeated measurements\u00a0over\u00a0time,\u00a0rather\u00a0than\u00a0a single\u00a0snapshot.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\" eplus-wrapper\"><strong>Precision\u00a0medicine\u00a0<\/strong>\u2014\u00a0tailoring\u00a0prevention\u00a0and\u00a0treatment\u00a0to the individual patient, using\u00a0data\u00a0such\u00a0as\u00a0their\u00a0genes,\u00a0biology\u00a0and environment.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Genomic\u00a0infrastructure<\/strong>\u00a0\u2014 the\u00a0labs,\u00a0sequencing\u00a0capacity, data tools and repositories that enable large-scale study and use of genetic data.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul><\/div>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":"At the 26th Bioinformatics in Toru\u0144 conference, Sano's Sylwia Bo\u017cek presented work on how the sinonasal microbiome changes over time in chronic rhinosinusitis.
