The brain’s reward system
Prof. Jan Rodriguez Parkitna, Department of Mollecular Neuropharmcology Maj Institute of Pharmacology of the Polish Academy of Sciences
Abstrakt:
The brain’s reward system evaluates the potential value of our surroundings and the consequences of our actions. It drives motivational processes that maximize the subjective value of our behaviors by discounting the risks, costs, and time required to achieve expected rewards. This system is crucial in shaping social behavior and – most relevant to this lecture – determining whether we find social interactions rewarding.
