Position: Postdoctoral Researcher in Data Analytics

Project period: 1 year (with a 3-month trial period), with potential for further renewal, starting on 02.01.2025 

The Postdoctoral Researcher will apply data science, analytics, and computational techniques to address complex research questions in ML for Healthcare. You will work on implementing large-scale data analyses, developing algorithms in HPC environments, and publishing scientific findings in high-impact journals. Additionally, you will supervise and mentor graduate students, fostering a collaborative environment and contributing to the team’s research and educational goals. 

This position is ideal for a researcher with a strong foundation in Python and scientific writing and a dedication to advancing research in data science and ML. 

What are you going to do?

You are expected to: 

  • Conduct original research in data analytics and apply HPC methods to large datasets. 
  • Develop, test, and implement data models and simulations, ensuring reproducibility and efficiency 
  • Prepare scientific manuscripts, reports, and grant proposals in support of ongoing and new research initiatives. 
  • Mentor and supervise graduate students’ research projects, guiding scientific methodologies and analytics techniques. 
  • Present research findings at conferences, workshops, and within the institution. 

What do we require?

  1. Education: Ph.D. in Data Science, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field, strongly emphasising data analytics or Chemistry with computational background. 
  2. Technical Skills: 
  • Python: Advanced proficiency, including data analysis libraries (e.g., Pandas, NumPy, SciPy, Scikit-Learn). 
  • Jupyter Notebook: Proficiency in developing reproducible research workflows and instructional materials. 
  • HPC: Hands-on experience with high-performance computing frameworks and environments (e.g., Slurm, MPI, parallel computing). 
  • Scientific Communication: Proven track record of scientific publications, technical reports, and experience in writing research proposals. 
  • Supervision Experience: Prior experience supervising or mentoring students or junior researchers in a research setting. 
  • Language: Fluent English, with excellent written and oral communication skills.

We offer a fixed-term contract for 40 hours per week for a 3-month trial period, with a potential for a renewal to 1 year (and further, depending on availability of funding). This will be supported by an educational plan that includes attendance at courses and (international) meetings. The contract will also include opportunities to participate in teaching and supervising undergraduate students.  

The salary, depending on relevant experience before the beginning of the employment contract, will be up to 14000 PLN gross per month, based on a full-time contract (40 hours a week) with private medical care and a sports card.
