Maciej Malawski honoured with the AGH Rector’s Award for a publication in Nature
The Director of Sano is among the laureates of the first-degree Award for one of AGH's most prestigious publication achievements of 2025.
Professor Maciej Malawski, DSc, Eng., Director of Sano Centre for Computational Medicine, has received the first-degree AGH Rector’s Award for the Most Prestigious Publication Achievements at AGH. The distinction was granted for the publication “Determination of the spin and parity of all-charm tetraquarks”, which appeared in the pages of the prestigious journal Nature.
The award-winning work was created through the collaboration of an international team of researchers, whose members also included: Professor Maciej Malawski, DSc, Eng., Dr Leszek Grzanka and Professor Krzysztof Piotrzkowski.
The publication presents groundbreaking research results obtained by an international team of scientists working on the CMS experiment at CERN. For the first time, they succeeded in determining the spin and parity properties of tetraquarks built exclusively of charm quarks. These are among the most complex known quark states, and in recent years they have become the subject of intensive research in particle physics.
The Competition for the AGH Rector’s Award for the Most Prestigious Publication Achievements recognises the authors of publications of the highest scientific value. The committee assesses the submitted works for their novelty, their impact on the development of science and bibliometric indicators such as citation record, SNIP and SJR. In the edition for 2025, the Rector of AGH, Professor Jerzy Lis, granted five equal first-degree awards, two second-degree awards and five third-degree awards.
