Daryna Yakymenko
Junior Research Specialist
Daryna Yakymenko is in her final year of a Master’s degree in Bioinformatics at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow, while holding Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry. She has several years of experience working in the field of microscopic image analysis and research on genome stability in mammalian somatic tissues and germ cells. She is a three-time laureate of the Intel & Perspektywy for Women in Tech program “New Technologies for Women – Ukraine”.
Daryna served as a vice-president (2023/24) and president (2024/25) of the Jagiellonian University Biochemistry Students Association “N.zyme”, while since the beginning of 2025, she is a leader of the Jagiellonian University Bioinformatics Students Association “In Silico” research project focusing on the analysis of preclinical stroke imaging dataset. She is actively involved in initiatives and collaborations focused on connecting local students to global advancements in genomics and computational biology. In particular, she is a co-organizer of the 4th edition of East European Bioinformatics and Computational Genomics Workshop (EBBG), which took part in Kraków in summer 2025.
