He is interested in physiological model development and in numerical methods for complex fluids. He is serving as the Vice-President of the German Association for Computational Mechanics (GACM). In 2014, he was elected a Fellow of the International Association for Computational Mechanics (IACM). Award: Leading Scientist Award (3.6 M€) (St. Petersburg, Russian Federation, 2010), largest individual scientific award in the world.
