Together for Scientific Excellence
Teaming for Excellence Centres Meet at Sano
On 8 June 2026, Sano had the pleasure of hosting representatives of Polish Centres of Excellence established through the Teaming for Excellence programme, as well as institutions supporting their development. The meeting also provided an opportunity for research teams to get to know one another, exchange ideas, and discuss potential directions for future scientific collaboration.
The event brought together representatives of ASTROCENT, ENSEMBLE3, ICTER, NOMATEN, P4Health, and RACE, as well as representatives of the National Centre for Research and Development (NCBR). Joining them were the winners of the latest Teaming for Excellence call under the #HorizonEurope programme: CERES – Centre of Excellence in Railway Engineering, QuRAK – Quantum Research and Applied Knowledge, and RAPTOR-HF – RAPid TranslatiOnal Research – Heart Failure.
The Polish Teaming Club meeting in Kraków demonstrated just how much the concept of Centres of Excellence in Poland has evolved in recent years. Not long ago, these were individual initiatives striving to establish their place on the European research landscape. Today, they form a growing community that brings together diverse fields of expertise, experiences, and ambitions.
The newly funded centres had the opportunity to present their plans and development strategies, while participants exchanged experiences gained during the implementation of their projects. The programme also included a training session delivered by Maria Szlachta from NCBR, which sparked many valuable discussions among participants.
The atmosphere of the meeting clearly showed that Teaming for Excellence is more than a funding programme. It is a growing community of people and institutions that share the belief that world-class research can be developed in Poland—and each year, new achievements continue to confirm this conviction.
About the Polish Teaming Club
The Polish Teaming Club is a network connecting Centres of Excellence established through the Teaming for Excellence programme, funded under #HorizonEU and #Horizon2020. It promotes collaboration and mutual support in project implementation while encouraging joint initiatives that contribute to the development of Poland’s research ecosystem and strengthen its international presence.
We would like to thank all participants for their presence, openness, and constructive discussions. We are proud that Sano can contribute to and help shape this initiative.
