Sano’s Legal Experts Bringing Legal AI Insights to ICAIL 2025

Sano’s Legal Experts Bringing Legal AI Insights to ICAIL 2025

The 20th International Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Law (ICAIL 2025) will take place from June 16 to 20, 2025, at Northwestern University in Chicago.

As an important gathering for the global AI and law community, the event features a series of expert-led workshops. One of them — focused on the legal challenges of AI development — will be conducted by the Legal & Data Protection team from Sano – Centre for Computational Medicine during the Workshop Day on June 16.

The workshop, titled “Implementing Intelligence: Legal Challenges in Creating AI Solutions – a platform for sharing experiences,” will be presented by:

  • Anna Kajda-Twardowska, Legal Counsel
  • Michał Kosobudzki, Data Protection Officer
  • Wioletta Niwińska, Legal Counsel

This session aims to support professionals navigating the complex legal and ethical challenges that arise when developing and implementing advanced AI technologies.

As AI solutions become more sophisticated and widely adopted, legal frameworks have struggled to keep pace. The workshop is designed for lawyers, researchers, and AI practitioners who may face obstacles related to intellectual property (IP), data protection, and regulatory compliance.

Participants will:

  • Gain awareness of the intricate legal landscape surrounding AI
  • Learn how to identify key legal checkpoints when designing AI systems
  • Discover practical strategies to enhance the legal security of their projects
  • Engage with real-world examples and cross-regional legal practices

A Global Platform for Knowledge Exchange

The tutorial will serve as a collaborative space for international knowledge exchange, encouraging participants to share experiences and discuss regional differences in AI law implementation. The speakers will highlight best practices and present actionable insights from their legal work at Sano, with a particular focus on data privacy and IP protection in AI-driven healthcare projects.

By helping participants better understand their roles and responsibilities, the tutorial aims to bridge the gap between technical and legal stakeholders. The team hopes to inspire creative, legally sound approaches to building AI solutions, ultimately fostering responsible and compliant innovation.

This workshop offers a unique opportunity to engage with leading legal minds working at the intersection of artificial intelligence and law. By creating space for meaningful exchange, it contributes to building a more informed, collaborative, and responsible approach to the development of AI technologies in legally complex environments.
