From Bordeaux: Sano at OHBM 2026

Joan Falcó-Roget from Sano's Computational Neuroscience team presented a poster at a leading brain-imaging meeting — on how brain tumours interact with the brain's white matter, and what that reveals about patient survival.

In June 2026, a researcher from the Computational Neuroscience Group at Sano – Centre for Computational Personalized Medicine — Joan Falcó Roget took part in the OHBM 2026 Annual Meeting in Bordeaux (14–18 June). Organised by the Organization for Human Brain Mapping (OHBM), the meeting is the largest annual gathering of the brain-imaging community, bringing together more than 4000 researchers who study the structure and function of the human brain, mainly through neuroimaging.

Joan Falcó Roget presented a poster titled “Spatial components of white matter–glioblastoma interactions inform survival outcomes“. Glioblastoma is one of the most aggressive brain tumours, and white matter is the network of nerve fibres that connects different regions of the brain. The study looks at how a tumour is structurally embedded with these pathways, showing that this spatial relationship carries information about how long patients survive. It is the team’s most recent work, carried out with Anna Janus, Julia Rybska, Barbara Wojtarowicz and Jan K. Argasiński, together with colleagues at Humanitas University and IRCCS Humanitas Research Hospital in Italy.

For Sano, OHBM 2026 was a chance to share this work — bridging clinical neuro-oncology and the methods that underpin brain imaging — and to exchange ideas with the international neuroimaging community in Bordeaux.
