Sano brings metagenomic-deepFRI to Gene Forum 2026

In Tartu, Filip Schymik presented our work on making structure-based protein function prediction faster and more accessible.

Representatives of Sano’s Structural and Functional Genomics group — Filip Schymik, Rund Tawfiq, and Tomasz Kościółek — are taking part in the 25th International Gene Forum (Gene Forum 2026) in Tartu, Estonia. A milestone edition of the leading forum on genetics and genomics in the Baltic region, the conference brings together researchers, clinicians, and industry professionals around the latest developments in the field.

During the event, Filip Schymik presented a poster titled “Scaling and democratising structure-based protein function prediction with metagenomic-deepFRI”, presenting the group’s work on making structure-based protein function prediction more scalable and accessible to the wider research community.

Beyond the scientific programme, the team is using the occasion to connect with the international genomics community and explore opportunities for future collaboration.
