AI in Medicine: Insights from the Day of Business and Science at ICAISC 2025

On June 24, 2025, Zakopane became a meeting point for academia, industry, and healthcare at the Day of Business and Science – a satellite event of the 24th International Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Soft Computing (ICAISC 2025). The event was co-organized by the Faculty of Computer Science at AGH University of Kraków.

Among a series of thematic panels exploring the future of AI across sectors such as energy, finance, and digital infrastructure, Sano proudly led a dedicated session focused on the real-world integration of artificial intelligence into modern medicine and pharmacy:

Session: Intelligent Medicine – Integrating AI into Modern Healthcare and Pharmacy

This session brought together experts and enthusiasts interested in the intersection of artificial intelligence and medicine. It also gathered thought leaders from medical AI research, digital health innovation, and the medtech industry to explore how artificial intelligence is transforming patient care, diagnostics, surgical training, and drug development.

Keynote Speaker:

Przemysław Korzeniowski, Head of Medical Imaging and Robotics at Sano, delivered an inspiring keynote titled:

“AI-Enhanced Surgical Simulators for Human and Machine Learning”.

His talk explored how next-generation simulators can serve as shared learning environments for both human clinicians and machine learning models, accelerating skill acquisition and data-driven innovation in surgery.

Panel Moderator:

Jan K. Argasiński, Head of Computational Neuroscience at Sano, led the subsequent panel discussion. With a background in neuroinformatics and philosophical questions around future technologies, he steered the debate toward actionable strategies for trustworthy, explainable AI integration in clinical practice.

Panelists and Perspectives

The panel featured a diverse set of experts representing core pillars of the AI-medical ecosystem:

Science & R&D:

Przemysław Korzeniowski, Sano – bridging foundational research and clinical applications in robotics and imaging.

Healthcare / Hospital Innovation:

Paulina Ignatowska-Zaremba, CEO, K.I.D.S. Foundation – promoting pediatric hospital innovation and digital transformation.

Klaudia Proniewska, Director of the Centre for Digital Medicine and Robotics, Jagiellonian University Medical College – advancing patient-centered medical technologies.

Medtech Industry:

Maciej Furman, Business Solutions Consultant, Comarch SA – bringing market insight into scalable, AI-powered healthcare systems.

From Research to Real-World Impact

The session showcased how interdisciplinary collaboration and system-level thinking are essential for delivering on the promise of AI in medicine. Topics ranged from ethical concerns and regulatory barriers to best practices in AI deployment and the role of public trust.

This mirrored the broader aims of the Day of Business and Science:

  • To bridge research excellence with practical implementation,
  • To foster trust and transparency in AI systems, and
  • To strengthen alliances across academia, industry, and public institutions.

Reflections from the Summit

The AI in Medicine panel reinforced several key insights echoed throughout the event:

  • Interdisciplinary collaboration is no longer optional – it is the new baseline for impactful innovation.
  • Trust and explainability are essential in healthcare applications, where decisions can have life-altering consequences.
  • Shared learning environments, like surgical simulators enhanced by AI, offer a unique chance to train both humans and machines in parallel.

Thank You

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to all speakers, panelists, and participants who contributed to this dynamic and thought-provoking discussion.

The Day of Business and Science 2025 demonstrated that when science, industry, and healthcare come together, we move one step closer to a future where AI is not just a tool—but a trusted partner in medicine.
