At the end of November, the Sano team once again took part in the Life Science Open Space conference, organized by the LifeScience Krakow Cluster in cooperation with the City of Krakow and EIT Health. The event has long attracted representatives of science, business, and healthcare, offering a space for exchanging experiences and developing new ideas in the life science field.
Science, strategy, and collaboration
The first day of LSOS 2025 focused on the scientific and strategic dimensions of the life science ecosystem. Participants explored forward-looking topics—from preventive healthcare strategies and novel therapeutic solutions to inclusive models of care and sustainable biotechnology systems. The sessions offered a mix of research insights, real-world case studies, and examples of successful academic–industry collaboration, encouraging participants to rethink how innovation can translate into better health and well-being.
The second day brought a shift toward innovation and entrepreneurship. The StartUp & ScaleUp Zone turned into a lively stage for presenting new business ideas, connecting creative minds with mentors, investors, and industry partners. Discussions focused on effective growth strategies, scaling innovation, and building partnerships that drive impact. The event concluded with an open session titled “Questions that Matter,” inviting participants to reflect on what truly shapes the future of health, technology, and society.
Sano’s contribution to LSOS 2025
During this year’s edition, Sano actively joined discussions on the future of digital medicine and health innovation. Katarzyna Baliga-Nicholson chaired the panel “Reimagining Healthcare: Access for All”, focused on solutions supporting more accessible and inclusive healthcare models.
In the presentation section, our representatives also took the stage:
• Katarzyna Kolasa – with the talk “The Digital Transformation of the Healthcare System: Healthcare 5.0”, dedicated to the digital transformation of healthcare systems.
• Jose Sousa – with the presentation “Beyond Compliance: How AI Continuous Learning Reveals the Real Hospital”, exploring how continuous learning in artificial intelligence can support hospitals in everyday operations.
• Luca Gherardini – with the talk “What do you NEED to fight dementia?”, focusing on innovative approaches to tackling neurodegenerative diseases.
Building meaningful connections
Beyond the presentations, the conference offered many opportunities for direct meetings and informal networking with representatives from various sectors—from academia to public institutions. Events like LSOS help strengthen its connections within the innovation community and build a network of experts committed to advancing the practical use of computational medicine.
