Sano students are the best
Dominika Ciupek, and Julia Machnio, PhD students at the Extreme-scale Data and Computing team, won prestigious awards in the competition organized by TRUMPF Huettinger company, one of the world’s biggest providers of machine tools and laser technology.
The competition was for the best engineering, master’s, and doctoral thesis. The committee was comprised of professors from the Warsaw University of Technology, engineers from TRUMPF, and professors from other Polish technological universities.
Dominika received a distinction in the category of master’s theses for the thesis “Mapping the properties of white matter pathways of the aging brain using the diffusion magnetic resonance imaging” (supervisors: Tomasz Pięciak, Ph.D. and Jaromir Przybyło, Ph.D.).
Julia won the 3rd prize in the category of engineering works for the thesis “Microstructural brain measures from diffusion MRI using deep learning” (supervisor: Tomasz Pięciak, Ph.D.).
The award ceremony took place at the Warsaw University of Technology on 20 June.
