Dr. Jose Sousa at the Open Eyes Economy Summit (OEES) 

Big public conferences like the Open Eyes Economy Summit (OEES) provide a unique opportunity to learn what are the concerns of the public. The Summit has shown that Artificial Intelligence is one of the biggest concerns as participants sent hundreds of questions to a special messenger designed for the Summit, and most of them were about AI.

Consequently, it is extremely important for scientists to educate the public and establish trust in new technologies and science. Dr. Jose Sousa, the leader of the Personal Health Data Science team of Sano in his speech at the Summit, tried to reduce uncertainty about the application of AI in healthcare. First of all, Dr. Sousa emphasized, that usage of AI in medicine is already very strictly regulated. He explained the inevitability of AI in medicine by addressing two problems that cannot be solved without the help of AI, it is aging population and the shortage of resources. Dr. Sousa expressed hope that AI will help healthcare to finally become preventive, he also provided some information about groundbreaking machine learning research of his team at Sano with the potential to impact personal health management.
