Inaugural Meeting InSilicoHealth Project
In January, the Kickoff Meeting for the InSilicoHealth MSCA Joint Doctoral Network was held in Leuven. Representing Sano as a dedicated partner, Maciej Malawski, Director of Sano and Research Team Leader of Extreme-scale Data and Computing, attended the meeting. It provided a platform for vibrant discussions and productive exchanges, setting a solid foundation for future collaborative efforts and advancements.
Advancing Doctoral Education in Digital Health
The InSilicoHealth initiative is poised to transform doctoral education by creating a Doctoral Network that nurtures a new generation of researchers in digital health. This network is designed to deepen understanding of the key challenges associated with healthy aging by concentrating research efforts on three essential bodily systems: the brain, heart, and musculoskeletal system. InSilicoHealth leads in the application of virtual twin technology, utilizing advanced predictive multi-scale simulations to explore age-related adaptive changes in these complex systems.
A Comprehensive Interdisciplinary Approach
Comprising a robust interdisciplinary joint degree program, InSilicoHealth will engage 11 Doctoral Candidates in addressing four comprehensive research objectives. These objectives are reinforced by a dynamic intersectoral training regime designed to cultivate a new generation of digital health experts. This program not only emphasizes surpassing the traditional technology-centric approaches but also integrates an in-depth exploration of the ethical, legal, and societal facets of virtual human twin technologies. Through this initiative, the candidates are equipped to enhance societal understanding and facilitate the clinical implementation of in silico health solutions by interacting with a broad spectrum of stakeholders, including industry professionals, clinical experts, policymakers, and the general public.
Sano’s Commitment to Excellence and Innovation
As a partner in the InSilicoHealth project, Sano Centre for Computational Personalised Medicine is delighted to host one of these promising Doctoral Candidates for a research internship. This collaboration underscores Sano’s commitment to academic excellence and innovation in healthcare. Being part of this program is a privilege for Sano, reflecting our dedication to contributing to the future European task force in digital health and in silico methodologies. This initiative promises to provide a comprehensive perspective on the methodological, technological, ethical, social, and regulatory challenges poised to transform the healthcare landscape in Europe.
