These so-called civilization diseases did not disappear during the COVID-19 pandemic, they also do not have a lockdown, they still pose a serious threat to the health and life of millions of people around the world. Scientists from several specialized research centers in Poland - International Research Agendas - are getting closer to finding ways to more effectively diagnose and treat civilization diseases.

NEO Hospital and Sano Centrum Medyczne Computational are joining forces to develop new technologies and personalized medicine.

We are pleased to announce that Sano - Centre for Computational Personalised Medicine - International Research Foundation has started cooperation with the NEO Hospital group.

Medicine is gaining more and more benefits from computer tools (including AI) that help in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases. Sometimes referred to as "computational medicine", such tools include clinical decision support systems, virtual patient models, and early phase clinical trials.

We are pleased to announce the nomination of Dr Arkadiusz Sitek as Sano Director from the 17th February 2021. He will also serve as the President of the Management Board and lead the Healthcare Informatics research group. Dr Sitek is a physicist and comes to Sano from IBM Watson Health in Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA.

We are pleased to announce that Sano has become a member of the international consortium CompBioMed operating in Europe and the USA. CompBioMed deals in particular with the design and development of computational methods for biomedical applications.

The European common health data space will be the discussion topic at the Scanbalt Digital Forum 2020, to which European cluster organizations are invited. Sano will be present there with the thema: "Computational Medicine challenges in the times of pandemic".

The VHP2020 Conference, entitled “When models, methods & experiments meet the clinic”, gives an opportunity to present research related to the Virtual Physiological Human and more broadly to Computational Systems Biomedicine. It is a place to promote cooperation between specialists and experts in the industry. The official inauguration of the Sano Centre for Computational Medicine took place on 26 November, at the Life Science Open Space 2019 conference organized by Klaster LifeScience Kraków. The establishment of Sano will directly contribute to the advancement of science in our region through new scientific projects and world-class educational opportunities for postgraduate students. It will also foster knowledge and technology transfer by supporting new start-ups in the area of advanced technologies. The Centre’s influence will stretch beyond the region and will also be felt on the international stage, contributing to further development of modern medicine and thereby to improving the quality of medical care.
