Dr Tomasz Poprawka visits Sano to talk about the centre’s future in the European research landscape
A working visit from the Director of PolSCA in Brussels focused on Sano’s achievements and closer links with EU partners.
On 25 June, the Sano Centre for Computational Medicine had the pleasure of hosting Dr Tomasz Poprawka, Director of the Polish Science Contact Agency (PolSCA) in Brussels.
The visit opened with a presentation of Sano’s achievements and development challenges, delivered by Marian Bubak with support from Maciej Malawski, Magda Chrzanowska, Jan Argasiński, Marek Wodziński, and Luca Gherardini.
A central theme of the discussion was the long-term sustainability of Sano — and of other Teaming centres. Together we explored the idea of organising a dedicated workshop on Sano’s achievements and sustainability challenges in Brussels, hosted at the PolSCA premises.
Dr Poprawka then visited each of Sano’s research teams, taking the time at every stop to engage directly with the scientists and dive into lively discussions about their ongoing projects. He showed particular interest in translational research, while thoughtfully emphasising that basic research remains equally vital at the frontier of health-related discovery.
His genuine curiosity and open, approachable attitude were warmly appreciated by team leaders and researchers alike, making the visit both productive and inspiring.
We look forward to continuing the conversation — and to strengthening the bridge between Sano and the European research community in Brussels.
